April Zepeda serves as the Chief Communication Officer at Envision Healthcare. She most recently served as Senior Vice President of Communication. April is a tenured communication leader with extensive healthcare experience.
Prior to joining Envision in January 2021, April served as Vice President of Internal Communication at Optum where she oversaw the development and continuous improvement of the OptumHealth business’ internal communication strategy while ensuring seamless integration with external efforts.
Previously, April served as Vice President of Corporate Communication for DaVita Medical Group, setting the overall direction for the company’s internal and external communication strategy to drive employee, patient and community engagement while building the organization’s reputation as a best practice healthcare provider.
April also led communication at The Everett Clinic in Washington state where she built the communication capability, team and strategy from the ground up. She joined the Clinic after working more than a decade as a television reporter at KOMO 4 News, the ABC network affiliate in Seattle. During her career in broadcast journalism, she won three regional Emmy awards and several Society of Professional Journalists and Associated Press awards.
April attended Washington State University where she graduated summa cum laude with a major in journalism and a minor in political science. She serves as a communication advisory board member for the university’s Edward R. Murrow School of Communication.
