NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As COVID-19 puts an increased strain on New York hospitals, Envision Healthcare is nearly doubling its deployment of clinicians to Mount Sinai Health System and the Greater New York area. The clinicians will join the team that began arriving on-site last month. This second deployment will put a total of 200 Envision clinicians on the ground at Mount Sinai Health System and surrounding hospitals. These anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists will treat patients in the hospitals’ intensive care units and provide support as patient volumes rise.

“This is an all-hands-on-deck healthcare crisis,” said Jim Rechtin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Envision Healthcare. “Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York hospitals have made it clear they need help. Our clinicians answered the call. Hundreds raised their hands and volunteered to go above and beyond to care for patients where they are needed most.”

Envision is working with several hospitals in the Greater New York area to provide additional support for COVID-19 care. Clinicians are also deploying to two hospitals in Northern New Jersey that serve patients in Middlesex County and Monmouth County.

With clinicians on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic, Envision has secured more than 4 million items of personal protective equipment, including masks, face shields, gowns and goggles, to distribute to areas with the greatest need. As the nation’s largest emergency medicine and anesthesiology provider group, Envision will continue to support its hospital and health system partners across the U.S. who are faced with rising patient volumes and guide efforts to contain and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
