Envision clinicians took to the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C., talking to policymakers about solutions that are crucial to improving the healthcare system and patients’ access to care. They shared their experiences, stories from patients and the importance of policies like the Dr. Lorna Breen Healthcare Provider Protection Act.

“At the same time, what we really want to do is make things better for not just physicians, but also for patients I think that's really the message that I want to deliver to the legislators,” said Dr. Harshit Rao, Chief Clinical Officer of Critical Care at Envision.

The trip was part of the Clinician Advocacy Champions Program, which provides clinicians with opportunities to actively participate in effective government advocacy and make their voices heard on topics that impact clinicians and the communities they serve.

“It is so important for clinicians to advocate on their own behalf because they are really credible voices within their communities,” said Patrick Velliky, Vice President of Government Affairs at Envision. “And legislators listen to them because at the end of the day, one of the most important things to a good legislator is ensuring that their constituency is taken care of.”

As a leading medical group, Envision is committed to supporting clinicians and providing them with a platform to advocate for and identify solutions that improve the healthcare system and patients’ access to quality, cost-effective care when they need it most. Advocacy on the state and federal levels is a key part of that mission.
