A look at how Envision clinicians are embracing artificial intelligence within several medical specialties.
Envision physicians and advanced practice providers across diverse medical specialties – emergency medicine, anesthesiology, radiology and hospital medicine continue to innovate by building on artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Our efforts are helping enhance the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and improve patient outcomes.
AI Integration
Clinicians can adopt AI to support their clinical workflows and help improve care based on patients’ unique needs. For example, radiologists can benefit from AI's superior image analysis, anesthesiology clinicians can leverage AI for predictive analytics, hospitalists can experience streamlined administrative workflows and emergency medicine clinicians can utilize AI for risk stratification and decision-making support.
A Clinician's Experience
As an emergency medicine physician, I’ve spent the past few years exploring ways to apply technology and generative AI in an ethical and responsible way clinically, and there are many practical benefits. One of AI’s most noteworthy advantages in the emergency department is its ability to help with clinical documentation and note-taking, which enables clinicians to spend more time with patients and focus on their care needs.
Adapting to Challenges
There are many complexities of AI integration to navigate like system compatibility and data security. However, a collaborative and adaptive problem-solving approach helps make sure these challenges are met with innovative solutions. It’s important that we constantly evaluate best practices and ways to safely and effectively implement AI to complement care at the bedside. After all, high-quality patient care is at the forefront of everything, any application of AI must have the patient as its primary focus.
Achievements in Patient Care
AI has the opportunity to yield significant advancements in patient care, such as improved diagnostic evaluations and enhanced patient flow. AI's analytical capabilities provide a more nuanced understanding of patients’ needs, fostering personalized and proactive care. Ultimately, it can lead to more timely, clinically appropriate care.
The Road Ahead
As AI evolves, the healthcare industry will continue exploring opportunities to leverage its capabilities. We will likely see AI more broadly used to improve predictive patient care pathways and create a more seamless care journey for patients. Just as we are doing now, we will continue collaborating across specialties to learn from each other and iterate on different approaches to enhance the experience for patients and the clinicians caring for them.
