NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Envision Healthcare, a leading national medical group, recognizes the House Committee on Ways and Means’ work on the current COVID-19 relief legislation. Envision cares for more than 32 million patients a year in communities throughout the country and has taken comprehensive action to care for patients and support its clinicians while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee’s recommendations include several crucial provisions that will fund the infrastructure needed to make healthcare more affordable while strengthening our healthcare system over the long-term, bringing much-needed relief and reassurance to patients and providers.

Envision applauds the inclusion of language in the relief legislation that:

  • Reduces healthcare premiums for low- and middle-income families by increasing the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits for 2021 and 2022
  • Supports the continuation of employer-based health coverage by subsidizing COBRA coverage at 85 percent through the end of the fiscal year
  • Creates healthcare subsidies for unemployed workers who are ineligible for COBRA

“Envision remains on the frontlines supporting America’s increasing demands for COVID-19 care,” said Meg Lafave, Envision Healthcare’s Senior Vice President of People and Government Affairs. “Our 25,000 clinicians care for 1 in every 10 patients hospitalized by COVID-19 and more than 32 million patients each year. We appreciate the House Ways and Means Committee’s actions in passing critical COVID-19 relief legislation and the inclusion of these crucial provisions that support patients’ ability to access care when they need it.”

Envision continues to urge all communities to continue working together to mitigate the spread of the virus by following effective public health measures. These include hand washing, maintaining six feet of distance from others, wearing a mask, avoiding large gatherings and staying home when feeling sick.
