Envision Healthcare is a voice for patients and the clinicians who care for them. Through advocacy at the state and federal levels, we are transforming healthcare delivery to ensure all patients have access to care, whenever and wherever they need it.

We need you to help ensure our healthcare system provides access to quality care for all patients.

At the forefront of our advocacy efforts is the Envision Healthcare Political Action Committee (PAC), which supports legislators who advocate for clinicians, protect the patient/clinician relationship and fight to enhance healthcare access and delivery in our communities.

Why We’re Involved

Our first priority is caring for patients. Advancing sound public policy around issues such as healthcare access, healthcare delivery, value-based care and virtual health is an important part of ensuring our clinicians are able to deliver care when and where it’s needed most.

Rising costs mean patients forgo care.

According to the CDC, 8.3 percent of people go without medical care because they cannot afford it. That number has not improved in the last 25 years. We can improve healthcare for all by moving toward a value-based care model.

Clinician shortages threaten healthcare access.

The Association of American Medical Colleges estimates the country’s physician shortage could reach 124,000 by 2034. The American Nurses Association says that by 2022 there will be more than 100,000 registered nurse jobs left unfilled each year.

Regulatory burdens reduce clinician-patient time.

The healthcare industry is highly-regulated. As the American Hospital Association notes, while regulations are meant to ensure safe care, clinicians are devoting more hours to regulatory compliance, taking valuable time away from patients.

Policymakers will listen.

Policymakers WANT to hear from the people closest to an issue. The Congressional Management Foundation has found 91 percent of congressional staffers believe it is helpful to have “information about the impact the bill/issue would have” on their constituents, but only 9 percent get that info.

We care for those who care for our patients by advocating for policies that reduce and prevent clinician burnout, behavioral disorders and suicide.
