With support from Dr. Merchak and the Envision clinical team, the Summerville Medical Center Special Care Nursery team creates lasting memories for families.
The Level II Special Care Nursery team at Summerville Medical Center in South Carolina is spreading Halloween cheer by creating doll-inspired costumes and lasting memories for families.
“We understand the emotional toll that takes on this family,” said Dr. Assaad Merchak, Director of Neonatal Services at Envision, who leads the Special Care Nursery team at Summerville Medical Center.
“This is helping me a lot to overcome the sadness that I have of her not being able to be home for her first holiday,” said Breanna Voigt, the mother Aliya. Her 29-day-old premature infant was dressed as a Summerville Medical Center neonatal nurse in honor of the team caring for her.
The nursing team at Summerville Medical Center go above and beyond every year to make this a special occasion for families.
“We make them from our heart for sure,” said Shannon Younginer, Registered Nurse at Summerville Medical Center. “I do it for the families because it makes this whole process less scary.”
With support from Dr. Merchak and the Envision clinical team, they’re able to create a moment of joy while providing high-quality medical treatment and helping families navigate this part of their care journey. Their collaboration is just one example of how our organizations comfort, heal and care deeply for our communities.
